Buntot Palos or also known as Eel’s Tail is always describes as grand and hidden. It’s a famous destination because of its proximity and accessibility from the urban.
How to go there?
We rode a jeep at the Crossing (Shaw) going to Tanay. As usual, they have to full the jeep before they can go. So we waited there for another 30 minutes and the real travel started at 9am. The travel from Crossing to Tanay took 2 hours. We reached Tanay Market at around 11am. From Tanay Market, we rode a jeep which has a signboard of “Siniloan”. The same as what happened on the first jeep, you need to wait till the jeep got full. Travel time from Tanay Market to Siniloan is 45 minutes to 1 hour. Once you reach the Siniloan Public Market, ride a Tricycle going to the jump-off point which is in Brgy.Balian.
Securing a Guide
We were supposed to talk to the barangay officials to get a guide but in our case, there’s no person available at the outpost so we went straight to jump off and registration area. We got a local, Kuya Jun (who is the husband of the woman in charge for registration) you can also just get him as your guide in case there’re no officials available.
(Note: it’s hard to trust any other locals in there since there were reports of hold-ups in the area)
We started to trek at around 12:30pm. It wasn’t that hot at that time since it was a bit cloudy and there were signs of rain. Good thing it didn’t rain because the trail can really be muddy. There are also horses, cow and carabaos whose passing the same trail. The trail was just fine and easy.
Note: Just try to avoid to go on a trek in this area if it is raining because it can sure be very slippery.
When you see a seem to be “camping area” that means you are just 5-10minute away to the falls. It is a big clearing area enough for you to notice. 😉
As you go nearer, you’ll hear the sound of a cascading water that pass through the collection of sharp rocks.
Sneak Peek of Buntot Palos
The last part of the trail is steep and you need to be very careful because it is composed of sharp and flock of huge rocks. You’ll be in big trouble in case you slip.
After the huge rocks, you’ll reach the bamboo bridge;
Voila! Buntot Palos Falls!
The Grand Hidden Falls
There were bunch of kids whose living in the same area bathing and enjoying the cold and beautiful falls. I thought of getting nearer the falls but was too afraid to jump from thereof. You can feel the pressure of the water splashing through the stones – scary. Hihi
I don’t have a clear shot. Poor Camera. 😦
We stayed there for an hour and decided to head back to the jump off, as we try to avoid the catch the night on the trail.
We started descending 3:30pm and reached Nissy’s resort at 4:15pm. The pool was drained as they weren’t expecting a visitor since it is as well, Holiday. We just asked for the use of their shower room which cost P20.00 each.
After changing, we asked Kuya Jun to get us a tricycle going back to the terminal. From Brgy. Balian, we reached the terminal after 30 minutes. We ate there and waited for the bus to arrive. It was pass 7pm when we finish our dinner that made us missed the last bus with still available seats. We were standing at the bus since those were the peak hours.
The grandeur of the falls is truly remarkable.
